human deficiencies

here is an excerpt from an essay i'm writing for philosophy class. we're supposed to discuss flaws in human nature, and i think this is a major flaw that most people, including myself, have:

"The misconception surrounding love produces fake relationships between human beings. A social ‘mask’ is used to protect the individual from the world, so to ‘fit in’ with the norm. But by doing this, superficial relationships are created by man, and are used only for self-benefit. This hiding of self, results in the depletion of trust and love, two key components to any relationship. Without a bond of trust, a promise of honesty and of real, meaningful conversation, there cannot be any significant relations between human beings. The purpose of love is completely missed if a relationship is based on a façade of lies designed to sugarcoat the reality of the personality underneath. It is a restriction of man, his misunderstanding of love, and his confused need to create a mask to hide himself behind. "

Too true Em...too true. Masks should be banned. We need real relationships...none of this fake jazz. Well put, well put.

true enough, but masks give safety and protection. It does hinder relationships though....
