is that all we are doing on this planet? pretending our lives away? is there meaning? hope? future?
In philosophy class today we were debating this, and it really made me think. If you don't believe in God, what gives you a purpose or meaning to your life? Do you believe that when you die there is nothing? Without some direction, a life is simply one wandering through the streets of reality. This would suggest that the consequences are meaningless because without purpose, how can you make mistakes with any life choices?
Then, tonight at youth, we were talking about our one goal as Christians, the goal to serve and worship God (so kind of two goals, but they are intricately linked because serving God is an act of worship and worshiping is really a symbol of servanthood..anyways..). And we reached a point in our discussion where our leader asked us if what is important to our lives is part of our life goal, or to re-word it, do all of the important things in life relate to ones life goal? This caused a lot of pondering of course, and i think we sort of reached the conclusion that loving and being do not necessarily fit into "life goals" and so things that are important can be separate of the goal.
My leader also reminded us of the last prayer that Jesus prayed before he was arrested. It was interesting because he prayed for his disciples, himself (i think) and his believers. The part that really got me, was what he said about his believers (being all of us now) and he prayed, and he wanted his believers to be united, to be one, and to be in the oneness of God. Sometimes it is so amazing how Jesus knew, he knew that his church would be divided, and he prayed about it.
anyways, i have no time left....so as a good friend of mine once said, "Be a blessing"

Here take a look here:
ExistentialismWouldn't we find meaning the same way we do if we were to believe in God? By going out and living a good life, sharing it with those we love, and asking question?
Better yet, why do some people need a God to have meaning in their life?
